Handyman in Manhattan
One handyman covering all of Manhattan — with a flat quote before I ring your doorbell and a 30-day warranty on labor, in writing.
Updated
Yes — I’m an independent handyman working across Manhattan, from Inwood to the Financial District. Most common calls: TV mounting, furniture assembly, picture hanging, and small drywall or plumbing fixes. Minimum visit is $90, most jobs are quoted flat from a photo before I arrive, and I work evenings and Sundays.
Why Manhattan jobs need a Manhattan-ready handyman
Manhattan isn’t a “pull up in a truck and knock” borough. Most of my work here happens in doorman buildings that run on process — sign-in at the front desk, freight elevator reservations, and work-hour rules from the board (many allow weekday 9–5 only for noisy work). I plan around all of it, and I back the work with a 30-day warranty on labor, in writing.
Then there’s the housing stock itself. Prewar buildings have plaster walls, not drywall — hanging a heavy mirror on plaster is a different job than on sheetrock, and I bring anchors for both. Glass towers usually mean concrete or steel behind the wall, which is why mounting a TV on masonry runs from $160 instead of the $120 drywall price. And in walk-ups, I’ve learned to break large furniture boxes down in the lobby rather than fight a PAX carton up four flights of a narrow stairwell.
Freight elevators, service entrances, super sign-offs — I handle that coordination so you don’t have to translate between me and your building staff.
What Manhattan clients book most
- Furniture assembly — IKEA dresser from $90, PAX wardrobe from $180. Boxes broken down and hauled out after.
- TV mounting — from $120 on drywall, from $160 on brick or concrete. Renter-friendly options if your lease says no big holes.
- Picture hanging — heavy mirror from $90, a gallery wall up to 10 pieces from $140. Plaster-safe hardware included.
- Drywall and plaster repair — patch plus paint from $140. The classic “moving out and need the wall back to white” job.
- Minor plumbing — running toilet from $110, faucet swap from $130. Small enough that your super keeps “getting to it next week.”
Full price list is on the pricing page — every number published, nothing “call for a quote.”
Working a lot lately on the Upper West Side and Upper East Side, where prewar co-ops keep me busy, plus Midtown and Harlem.
How booking works
- Text me photos of the job — the wall, the box, the leak. I answer personally; there’s no dispatcher between us.
- Get a flat price before I come. The number I send is the number you pay. Materials extra, always discussed upfront.
- Pick a slot. Weekday evenings and Sundays included — I’m working when the big companies’ phone lines go to voicemail.
If your building has rules about outside workers, mention them in the first message and I’ll plan the visit around them while we schedule. I bring drop cloths, I vacuum, and I leave your apartment cleaner than the average contractor’s promise. Get in touch with a photo and let’s put a number on it.
Letters to the desk — answered
My building has rules about outside workers. Can you deal with that?
Yes. Doorman buildings run on process — sign-in at the desk, freight elevator bookings, work-hour windows for anything loud. Tell me your building's rules in the first message and I'll plan the visit around them.
Do you work in walk-ups, or only doorman buildings?
Both. A fifth-floor prewar walk-up doesn't scare me — I plan tools and materials for the stairs. No extra charge for the climb.
How do you handle parking and getting materials in?
I don't make you pay for my parking hunt. I quote flat by photo, so the price is the price. For bigger items I coordinate with your doorman or super on the freight elevator and service entrance ahead of time.
Can you come same day in Manhattan?
Often, yes — especially for evening slots. Manhattan is my fastest borough to reach. Text a photo in the morning and there's a good chance I'm there before dinner. See the same-day page for how it works.
What does a handyman visit cost in Manhattan?
My minimum visit is $90, and most single jobs run $90–180 flat. You get the exact number from a photo before I come, not after.
