Handyman prices in NYC — published, not hidden

Typical NYC handyman rates in 2026: $75–$95 per hour, with a minimum visit of $90. Most of my work is quoted as a flat price per job — you text a photo, you get a number, and that number doesn’t change when I walk in. Materials extra. Exact quote after photos — text a picture, get a number.

The rate card — floors, not fine print

Prices are starting points for standard conditions (drywall, reachable height, parts on site). Materials at receipt — no markup. Minimum visit is $90; a list of small things fills it beautifully.

What moves the price

The walls — drywall is the baseline; brick, concrete or plaster-and-lath adds drilling time, and the quote says so up front.

The building — walk-ups, freight-elevator bookings and board paperwork add logistics, not mystery fees. Tell me the floor and I’ll price it in.

Parts & materials — billed at the store receipt. Have them ready, or I’ll pick them up for a flat shopping fee.

House rules
  • No visit fee — the estimate is a phone call or a photo by text
  • Flat quote before the visit; it changes only if the job changes
  • Materials at receipt — you see the paper
  • 30-day warranty on labor, in writing
  • Evenings and Sundays at the same rates — no surcharge

Pricing questions

Why do you publish prices when nobody else does?

Because “call for a quote” wastes your time and mine. The table covers what most jobs actually cost; a photo of your specific job turns a “from” price into an exact one before I arrive.

What does the minimum visit cover?

The $90 minimum covers travel, tools and up to the first hour of straightforward work. Several small tasks can be bundled into one visit — that’s usually the best value.

Are materials included?

No — materials are billed at store price with the receipt, or you can have them ready when I arrive. I’ll tell you exactly what to buy (or pick it up myself for a flat shopping fee).

Do prices change for co-op and condo buildings?

The rate is the same. If your building limits work hours or requires service-elevator booking, longer jobs may need to be split across visits — I’ll flag that in the quote, never after.
